1st of June it was 25 years ago that MTMG, nowadays called HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal, opened its doors in one of the biggest harbours in Poland. What started with a small terminal has grown to an all-round terminal with services such as reloading of dry bulk cargo as well as the direct transshipment of liquid bulk. Just recently we added two new cranes to our existing equipment as a replacement for two cranes that had limited capacity and were at the end of their operating lifespan.
Managing Director Mr Bogdan Buczko: ‘We are of course very happy with these new investments which enables us to meet today’s customer demands, as well as the challenges of the future. The new Gottwald 6 is operational as from December 2019 and is able to operate on our different terminal quays. Our latest addition is an Ardelt Tukan 3000 crane which we have taken in operation at our Dutch quay two months ago. Both cranes are able to handle different kind of dry bulk commodities and will definitely improve operational efficiency and maintenance costs.'
HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal originally planned to invite all customers and business relations to celebrate the 25 years anniversary with them. However, the Covid-19 pandemic turned all that upside-down. ‘We were looking forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary with all our valued customers and relations. This is postponed because we have joined the fight against Covid-19. At our terminal we are following the necessary guidelines. In addition, we supported local hospitals by donating a ventilator and personal protective equipment for medical staffs. Something completely different than originally planned but unfortunately necessary. Nevertheless, we are positive about the future and look forward to the next 25 years!’, Mr Bogdan Buczko proudly stated.
