Bulk in motionBulk for life.

The energy in your wall socket. The steel in your car. The grain in your bread. Before it reached you, it moved as bulk through terminals like ours. Today we handle 100 million tonnes a year. Tomorrow, the same jetties will also carry Europe's CO₂, hydrogen and e-fuels.

Three horizons

One bridge,
three horizons.

Today's bulk operations, the live terminal conversions and the scale-up of new energies. All three run in parallel, each one funding the next.

  1. Run the core
    HBTA

    Deliver on excellence

Over 100 million tonnes of dry and liquid bulk move through our deepwater terminals every year. Safety comes first and operational excellence keeps this engine reliable. It's the proven foundation that funds everything ahead.

  2. Converting now
    Leadership

    Grow a diversified portfolio

We bring in new, specialized cargoes and upgrade our terminals to handle more of it. Together with our clients, we explore and build new solutions.

  3. Building now
    HBTR

    Develop a sustainable operating model

Hydrogen, ammonia and e-fuels scale on infrastructure that already works. By developing these new energies, we contribute directly to our clients' decarbonization. Building a sustainable, future-ready organization on the very assets HES was converting all along.

Where HES is going

We convert the terminals Europe already relies on.

We turn working deepwater terminals into gateways for what comes next: CO₂, hydrogen and cleaner fuels, on the same quays that move today's bulk. That's our edge in the energy transition; proven infrastructure, existing client relationships and jetties that are already permitted, connected and operating.

Explore New Energies

The infrastructure that makes this credible.

Seven terminals across four countries, one connected European network of deepwater quays, jetties, tanks and rail and barge links. Together they move today's commodities and power tomorrow's transition. Explore the map below to see where we operate and what moves through each location.

The products behind everyday life

What we handle.

We move the raw materials that keep Europe running: coal and ore for power and steel, agribulk for food, fuels for industry. It's a role we're proud of, and one that matters. These volumes also what fund our projects of tomorrow.

The people behind the motion

Keeping it moving.

It's 1,450 people across four countries; the crews who run our terminals every night, the engineers converting them for what's next, and the teams in the office making sure it all comes together.

The questions that matter

How we operate, and how we deliver the bridge.

Tell us your commodity, volume and preferred location through the contact form, and our commercial team will scope a solution.

The Open Season process gives all market participants a transparent and non-discriminatory way to secure future terminal future capacity at the Wilhelmshaven and Rotterdam CO₂ export terminals. It also supports subsidy applications for our clients and access to project funding by enabling transport and storage declarations for CO₂.

Seven fully owned terminals across the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and France. And two joint ventures. We serve global, regional and local customers, varying from trading houses and majors to distribution companies. All our operations are always performed according to the highest industry standards and in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Our highly skilled, well-trained employees are committed to operating with care, integrity and transparency.

Express your interest in Europe's CO₂ gateway.

For emitters and CO₂ value-chain partners: reserve Phase-1 export capacity at Rotterdam and Wilhelmshaven (€180M per terminal, targeting 20 Mt/year by 2029). It takes about five minutes, and HES follows up directly.
